I have just visited a cafe near the Eiffel tower in Paris called Chien Le Restaurant (which in English means Dog Cafe). Everyone who walks past has an urge to go in. From the outside, Chien Le Restaurant looks modern, fancy and very appetizing to the eye. Chien Le Restaurant is called that because dogs are actually allowed to come in and eat with you! They even have a special menu for the dogs, filled with nutritious food they can eat. This is significant as Paris is known as the dog capital of the world. There are approximately 200,000 dogs in Paris alone.
Île De France has a wide variety of cuisine. There isn't really a cuisine particular to Île De France. When I went to Chien Le Restaurant it was hard to choose what to order. Eventually, I decided. I had:
Fromages (cheese)
Brie de Meaux (brie cheese)
Plat principal (main course)
Chartreuse de Faisane foie gras et petits Paris with a side of Champignons de Paris à la Valat (a cabbage dish with a truffle sauce and a side of mushrooms)
Dessert (I think you can work out what this is in English)
Paris-Brest (it is like a choux pastry doughnut cut in half and filled with a praline flavoured cream)
Boissons (fraiches) (cold drinks)
Capri C’est Fini (a sour, but tasty cocktail)
My favourite dish would have to be the Paris-Brest because it was so creamy and almost tasted like an eclair. I normally don't like desserts but this is one I would have again. I also recommend that next time you visit Paris to try one.
I would give Chien Le Restaurant 5 out of 5 étoiles (stars) as the atmosphere is bubbly, the staff are so kind (they are also very good at English so that helped), the pets being there was great (I would definitely take my dog) and the food was fabulous. The thing that made the experience so special was the staff. They noticed I didn't speak French very well so they told me all the dishes in English and helped me choose what to have. I would definitely recommend Chien Le Restaurant to my family and friends and encourage everyone visiting Paris to go there.
